Chamber Sessions I
Experience four distinctive chamber-music highlights of the season—each programmed and performed by some of the repertoire’s greatest ambassadors. Pianist Mitsuko Uchida leads exceptional rising artists in music by Beethoven, Robert Schumann, and György Kurtág. The Prague Philharmonic Choir fills Zankel Hall with the singular sound of Czech choral music. In the intimate, in-the-round setting of Zankel Hall Center Stage, the Brentano String Quartet performs Haydn’s complete Op. 33 string quartets. The Danish String Quartet concludes its highly acclaimed Doppelgänger project, pairing a masterpiece by Schubert with a New York premiere inspired by it.

Chamber Sessions II
This series presents chamber music in three uniquely impactful instrumental configurations. Two of today’s finest string quartets—the Belcea Quartet and Quatuor Ébène—join forces in quintessential string-octet compositions by Felix Mendelssohn and Enescu. Revered pianist Emanuel Ax and leading clarinetist Anthony McGill perform a wide-ranging program in their first-ever duo concert at the Hall. The esteemed Tetzlaff Quartet treats listeners to Dvořák’s final chamber work, Jörg Widmann’s dynamic “Choralquartett,” and Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in A Minor.

Connections: Ensemble Connect and Decoda
Two ensembles that exemplify the bright future of classical music present repertoire staples and more recent works in a manner that’s both approachable and enlightening. Hear the latest iteration of Ensemble Connect in programs that feature works by Dvořák, Andile Khumalo, Schubert, Berio, Beethoven, Coleridge-Taylor, Mozart, and more. Decoda—an esteemed group of Ensemble Connect alums—brings a fascinating program of works by Robert and Clara Schumann, Gustav and Alma Mahler, Schoenberg, and a one-of-a-kind collaborative suite by four of today’s leading composers.

Quartets Plus
There’s truly nothing like a great string quartet, and this series presents four of today’s most exemplary ensembles in Carnegie Hall’s most intimate venue. The Chiaroscuro Quartet performs masterworks by Mozart and Schubert with striking clarity on gut strings and with historical bows. The Pavel Haas Quartet—“the world’s most exciting string quartet” (London’s The Times)—performs a stirring all-Czech program. The Grammy Award–winning Parker Quartet showcases its great versatility in works by Brahms, Zemlinsky, and Thomas Adès. England’s esteemed Doric String Quartet performs significant works by Haydn and Beethoven along with Berg’s visceral Lyric Suite.
